Blue Earth — Rose M. Holland, age 90, of Blue Earth, died Oct. 6, 2010, at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center, Blue Earth.

Funeral Services were held Oct. 9, 2010, at Bethany Lutheran Church, in Frost. The Rev. Neil Christopherson and Rev. Karl Rydholm officiated. Burial was in Bethany Lutheran Cemetery, Frost. Patton Funeral Home and Cremation Service was in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 26, 1920, at Pilot Grove, the daughter of Edwin and Rose (Hauge) Holm. She was born and raised in Pilot Grove and graduated from Elmore High School in 1937. She received her Normal Training in Blue Earth and taught for two years before her marriage to Arthur S. Holland on Aug. 16, 1940 at Salem Church in Pilot Grove. The couple resided in Elmore and later farmed in Pennock before coming to their farm in Frost in the mid 1940's. The couple farmed in Frost for many years where Rose was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She was a longtime member of the church WELCA and attended several national conventions with the group. She also taught Sunday School, served on the Board and volunteered at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center and was a 4-H leader. Rose retired after Arthur's death in 1970 and later moved to Blue Earth in the late 1970's. She was a devoted supporter of all her grandchildren's sports and school activities and loved her family's many fishing trips and get-together card games.

Rose is survived by her children, Arlet (Jim) Aanestad, of Issue, Md., Raymond (Sheryl) Holland, of Blue Earth, Donna (Carrol) Olsen, of Blue Earth, Dr. Selmer (LaVer) Holland, of Pierre, S.D., Betty (Barry) Bridges, of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Thomas (Gloria) Holland, of Buffalo Center, Iowa, and Edwin Holland, of Frost; 24 grandchildren; 61 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Arlene Holm, of Blue Earth, Marjorie Holland, of Blue Earth, Lydia Holland, of Fairmont, and Sylvia (Richard) Aslakson, of Salida, Colo.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arthur; daughter, Karen Winter; brother, Ray Holm; sister, Lucille Dahl; and twin sister, Ruth Clark.
