Joe married Margaret Riddle in 1932 and they had a son, James Buck, who was last known to be in Boulder, Colo. They divorced and he married Edith Helen McKinley on 17 September 1941 in Maryville, Missouri. Joe and Edith had no children but he welcomed Edith's only child, Helen (nee Smith) Rolfe. Joe retired as a switchman after 38 years with the Union Pacific Railroad. He was a WWII Army veteran having served in Europe and as a railroad yardmaster in India. He was a life member of Veteran's of Foreign Wars post #737 in Council Bluffs. He had one sister, Mary Margaret "Peg" (Mrs. Donald Baxley). Joe will be lovingly remembered as a gruff-mannered gentleman with a heart of gold. His paternal Grandparents are Mary Loretta Kaylor and Henry J. Buck (Pennsylvania); and his maternal grandparents are Patrick J. Reilly and Mary E. Massey (also last lived in Pennsylvania).
