Lydia was united in marriage to Herbert Rittel on September 12, 1928 in Beloit. They lived in Barnard where she was in the restaurant business. In 1959 they moved to Minneapolis. Lydia worked as a kitchen supervisor at the Ottawa County Health Center until retiring in 1975. In 1984, they moved to Salina.
Survivors include her son LeRoy of Salina; her sister, Helen Riffel of Council Grove; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert on July 20, 1996, a brother Donald Frink and two sisters, Rosetta Webster and Viola Rathbun.
The funeral is today, June 12, at 2 p.m. at Shields Funeral Home in Minneapolis with Rev. David Heikes officiating. Musicians are Suzie Foerschler and Melba Bruce. Casket bearers are Lydia's grandchildren. Interment will be in Milo Cemetery at Barnard.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Barnard Community Building.
