Vern was born on July 21, 1934, the son of Forrest and Ida Cook.
Vern graduated from Danville High School and then served his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force.
He later married Artina York on March 24, 1964.
Survivors include sons, Charles Hagan and Kenny Cook; daughters, Terri (Grover) Armstrong, Susie Hagan and Charlene Berkeley; a brother, Glen (Cheryl) Cook; grandchildren, Charles Lee "Guy" Hagan Jr., Scotty Hagan and Chad Michael Hagan; and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Vern was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. He loved sports, but most of all, taking care of his beloved wife.
