Mildred was born February 12, 1925, in Savanna, Illinois, the daughter of Clem and Esther (Plattenburger) Hoy. She graduated from York Community High School with the Class of 1943. Mildred married Marvin Stiles on February 12, 1944, in Savanna. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1995.
Mildred worked at the Savanna Army Depot during World War II and for McGinnis Melon Market in Thomson. She was a member of the Argo Fay Methodist Church and Ladies Aid, and the Thomson American Legion Auxiliary. Mildred loved nature and being outdoors. She enjoyed all types of hunting, wild game and morel mushrooms, and gathering ginseng.
Mildred is survived and lovingly remembered by two sons, Steven (Deloris) Stiles of Mount Carroll, Illinois, and Mikel (Mabel) Stiles of Fulton, Illinois; one step son, Marvin R. (Betty) Stiles of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Clinton Stiles, Grant Stiles, Laura Howard, Sara Dolan, and Kate Stiles; three step grandchildren, Scott Stiles, John Stiles, and Derek Stiles; five great grandchildren, Frankie Dolan, Mikel Dolan, Levi Howard, Lynnette Stiles, and John Stiles; one sister, Laura Jensen of Humbird, Wisconsin; and one brother, Hal Hoy of Thomson.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Marvin, one sister, and one brother.
