Gloria (Alexander) Palmer, passed away Saturday, August 18th, at her home in Morrison. She was born February 16, 1931 in Laramie, WY to Roy C. and Jeanne Alexander. Her father relocated the family to Longmont, CO in 1939. Despite missing two years of school due to a childhood illness, Gloria graduated from Longmont High School at age 17 and completed her English Literature degree at the University of Colorado in three years. There she met fellow student and love of her life, Robert "Bob" Palmer, and they married in 1951. Gloria's love of literature was a gift she passed on to her three children. Bob and Gloria created a home filled with books, love, and laughter. She remained an avid reader throughout her life, with a special fondness for the Science Fiction genre, because: "anything is possible". Gloria also enjoyed bridge, crafts, travel, fine needlework, and was an accomplished silversmith. She will be remembered as well for her exemplary hostess skills especially the wonderful holiday gatherings for friends and family and tailgate parties for her beloved C.U. Buffs. Gloria is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bob Palmer of Morrison, a son: Roy (Linda) of Highlands Ranch, two daughters: Cheryl, of Lakewood, Renee Palmer-Jones (Jack Jones) of Anthem, AZ, a brother: Clif Alexander of Roseburg, OR, four grandchildren Lauren Barnett of Phoenix, AZ, Jane (Jeff) Stewart of Superior, Caitlin Machi of Wheat Ridge, Ross Palmer of Highlands Ranch, and many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 21, 5:30 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., 3101 South Wadsworth Boulevard. Private burial Wednesday, August 22, at the Golden Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Heart Association or the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
