Mrs. Emma Brown, 68, widow of the late William Brown and life resident of Stephenson County, passed away at a local hospital early today. She resided at 445 South West Avenue. Funeral services will be conducted at the Walker Mortuary, West Main Street, at 1:30 o'clock Friday aftemoon. Rev. Aubrey P. White, pastor of First Baptist Church, will conduct the services and interment will be made at Oakland. Friends may call at the funeral home. Emma Ritzman was born in Lancaster Township, Oct. 27,1871, the daughter of Charles and Malvina Ritzman. She was united in marriage Dec. 12, 1894, to William Brown. The husband passed away Oct. 20, 1925. The following children survive: Roscoe Brown, Hannibal, Mo.; Mrs. Vivian McHoes, Mrs. Catherine Satterlee, Freeport; Mrs. Dorothy Adelman, Rockford. There are also six grandchildren. One brother, Edward Ritzman, resides at Rockford. Mrs. Brown was a member of the King's Daughters. FREEPORT JOURNAL-STANDARD, 27 Dec. 1939, p. 14.
