Mr. William Albert Dowdy, 84, of Ratcliff, died in a local hospital, Friday afternoon.
Mr. Dowdy, a lifelong resident of Houston County, was a retired merchant, and a member of Ratcliff Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Ratcliff Baptist Church, with Rev. Frank Oswald and Rev. Glenn Stovall officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Virgie English and Mrs. Mylo Bounds, both of Crockett, and Mrs. Berta Baughman and Mrs. Georgia Vaugh, both of Houston; three brothers, Jim and Oscar Dowdy, both of Ratcliff, and Alton Dowdy of Port Arthur; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren.
Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
