Merrill Connellee Ballentine, 87, of Oak Grove died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003. Born in Warsaw, she was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Oak Grove. She and her late husband, Douglass K. Ballentine, served with the U.S. Foreign Service for many years. She was a retired officer of the Berkley Beach Owners Association. Mrs. Ballentine is survived by her daughters Patricia A. Ballentine and Sandra B. Simonsen and her husband, Kevin E. Simonsen, all of Alexandria; her son Douglass K. Ballentine II and his wife, Victoria M. Ballentine, of Woodbridge; her sister, Lois Payne of Warsaw; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter Cynthia L. Ballentine and her son Richard D. Ballentine. A funeral will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Oak Grove, with the Rev. Prentice Kinser officiating. Burial will follow in he church cemetery. Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, 4715 North 15th St., Arlington, Va. 22205.
