Paul M. Taube, 60, of St. Anne, IL, passed away Sunday, March 7, 2010, at his home. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday.

Interment will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family wishes.

Mr. Taube retired from Shapiro Developmental Center in 2001 after 32 years of state service. He was born May 2, 1949, in Kankakee, IL, the son of Kenneth and Virginia Erickson Taube. After retirement he purchased and operated a horse-boarding facility. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War. Paul loved spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends.

Surviving are his wife, the former Cheryl Fraser, whom he married March 30, 1985; three daughters, Melissa Taube and Todd Drafall of Aurora, IL, Paula Williams of Bloomington, IL, Michele and Cory Crecy of St. Anne, IL; six grandchildren, Cory Crecy, Deion Crecy, Kane Crecy, Emma Williams, Madeline Drafall and Logan Drafall; one sister, Sandra and Greg Kraft of Janesville, WI; and one brother, Kenneth and Mary Lou Taube of Kankakee, IL.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sheila Malone.
