Jedidiah Hoit was born to Joseph Hoit and Susannah French Hoit. His brothers Oliver & Joseph Hoit are buried in this same cemetery. Jedediah Hoit was a brave, hard working man. He served in the Revolutionary War, went to Bennington, VT with John Stark in command. He was born in Salisbury, MA, moved to Boscawen, NH when he was about 2 or 3 years old where he grew up to maturity. He married Hannah Elliot 4 January 1783, they had 7 children together, she died 10 days after the birth of their last son in 1795. After her death, he moved to Concord, Horse Hill, NH. Close to the Burroughs by Riverhill. A year later he married Sarah Lovejoy Farnum. She was a widow of Theodore Farnum and had 4 children with her first husband. He served as Surveyor of Highways, Hogreeves and was a farmer. He lived to be 82 years old and passed away April 1840.
