Donald E. Grey, 80, of rural Grand Rapids, passed away early Thursday morning, February 25, 2010, at home with his loving wife by his side.

Donald was born September 3, 1929, in Toledo to the late Edward and Thelma (Todd) Grey.

He married Geraldine W. Trotzier on September 16, 1950 in Toledo and she survives.

Also surviving are his children, Dennis (Judith Cook) Grey, Chicago, Cindy (Keith) Treen and Douglas (Cathy Jeffers) Grey, both of Grand Rapids; daughter-in-law, Betsy Grey, Bowling Green; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; brother, Frank (Ruth) Grey, Holland; and sisters, Mary Worden, Judy Pidcock and Pat (Jim) Kratzman, Toledo, and Virginia (Paul) Wannemacher, Ottoville., and sister-in-law, Maryann Grey, Toledo.

He was also preceded in death by a son, David; sister, Beverly June Bailey; and brothers, James and Edward.

A 1948 graduate of Libbey High School, Toledo, Donald retired in 1993 from Lamson and Session where he was employed as a shipping clerk for 10 years. He had previously worked in the same position at Swan Creek Lumber for 30 years.

Donald was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Providence, and was a life member of Eagles Aerie 2562, Maumee, and its REAC senior group.

He enjoyed traveling and camping on the Maumee River with his family.

Donald will be remembered for his easy-going and friendly nature.

Private graveside services were held at St. Patrick Cemetery, Grand Rapids. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 6, 2010 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 14010 U.S. Highway 24, Grand Rapids, with Father David Tscherne presiding. A luncheon and gathering will follow Mass in the church hall.

Memorials are suggested to the church or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their loving care of Don.
