Served in Confederate Army, enlisted Jan. 1, 1863, Private. Fought in the Civil War, first with Company I, 54th Regiment, GA Infantry, on Dec. 15, 1863, detailed to No. 3 CRR to guard commissary stores. Later with Company L, 7th Regiment, FL Infantry.
Though no burial records can be found for him, Isaiah buried in one of four unmarked graves with coping, which are directly to the left of his son John William Heidt and his wife Margaret Leight "Maggie" (Davis) Heidt's marked graves, in the Old Providence Cemetery, just outside of Guyton. Though there are no cemetery records or documentation showing that Isaiah Heidt is buried here, the tombstones of his son John and John's wife Margaret are clearly readable, to the right of the four unmarked graves with coping. Isaiah most certainly being in the second grave to the left, which is slightly wider than the first grave on the left. His wife Sarah's death certificate confirms that she is buried in Guyton, as is one of the two children of John and Margaret Heidt, Maud (Heidt), who died when she was 13 and was buried in Guyton, confirmed on her death certificate. Also confirmed to be buried in Guyton and John and Margaret of course, with readable tombstones in this cemetery. All four of them are documented to have died in Savannah and brought to Guyton for burial, It is very unlikely that the four of them would have been brought to this cemetery for burial after dying in Savannah, if Isaiah was not buried here also. Especially since the burial locations all other members of John William Heidt's close family have been positively confirmed with marked graves elsewhere. All except John's parents, Isaiah and Sarah, and the two young children of John and Margaret who died before the 1900 census. So two adults and two children with burial sites unknown, and two adult and two child unmarked graves with coping, right beside John and Margaret Heidt's marked graves. There has never been any indication of Isaiah Heidt being buried anywhere but in this cemetery, with his wife, son and two young grandchildren.
