Joseph Couch was born September 29, 1784, in Kent County, Delaware.
On December 31, 1810, Joseph married Nancy Rawley, who was born about 1788 in Guilford County, North Carolina. Joseph and Nancy ultimately had five children: Louiza Couch, Jesse Couch, Jabez Couch, Joseph Couch, and Nancy Couch.
Nancy died between 1818 and 1820 and was buried in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. On March 18, 1820, Joseph married Sarah Williams, and Joseph and Sarah ultimately had six known children: Milton Couch, James M. Couch, Bartlett Yancey Couch, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" Couch, Meshach H. Couch, and Andrew Jackson "Jack" Couch.
Sarah died June 9, 1850 and was buried in the Hickory Grove Cemetery. Joseph died June 29, 1853, and was buried beside her. Copyright©2010NancyLadd
