July 21, 1864 returned to Signal Camp, Georgetown, D. C. March 25, 1865 assigned to Department of the Cumberland; Aug. 29, 1865 mo; Dec. 11, 1865 married Victoria F. Cross; March 7, 1867 2ndlt., 28th U. S. Infantry Rgt. and brevet 1stlt., U. S. Army for Signal Corps war service; 1867 appointed military commandant of Shattuck Military School at Fairbault, Minn. by the secretary of war; March 31, 1869 unassigned; July 14, 1870 assigned to 3rd U.
