J. W. Van Horn, 87, resident of Iowa Park since 1891, died at his home northwest of town Wednesday morning following a long illness.
He was born Sept. 20, 1877, in Lone Tree, Iowa, and moved to this area with his parents about 73 years ago. He was married to Miss Ella Campbell of Lynn, Iowa, in Nov. 1904. The couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last month.
Van Horn, a retired farmer and rancher, had been a director of State National Bank here since 1932. He was a member of First Baptist church. Funeral service will be conducted in the Christian church at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, by Rev. Claude McDonald. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery under direction of Tanner Funeral Home.
Surviving are the widow; four daughters: Mrs. D. A. Johnson of Houston, Mrs. Wilbur Mindel of Odessa, Mrs. Wayne Leslie of Wichita Falls, Mrs. B. A. Farris Jr. of Burkburnett; one sister Mrs. Edith Fields of Happy; and nine grandchildren.
