Ruth was born in Smith Co Tn., moved to Dade Co Ga. with her husband, Michael Bockmon, and then to Cass Co Tx. near Linden. She was attacked by a bull in the family pasture and died from her injuries. She was buried in the pasture, the only grave in that place, which is sometimes called "Bockmon Cemetery". A family that later purchased the land lives near the grave and not knowing who she was or who her family was, repaired her broken headstone, planted flowers and takes care of it. Her great-great-granddaughter, Marcy Brown O'Malley, later added a new headstone which was placed beside the old one.
