She was born on January 3, 1931, in Greene County, Virginia and was a daughter of the late Horace Garth and Flora Durrette Garth.
Cora graduated from Madison College (now James Madison University) in 1954, and was an educator for Page County Public Schools, retiring with 34 years of service. She was a member of the Luray United Methodist Church.
On June 27, 1957, Cora married Edwin Miller Smith, who died on March 30, 2007.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Lamb and Betty Nixon; and a brother, Wayland Garth.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the Bradley Funeral Home by the Rev. Erich Bennett, with visitation one hour prior to the service, from 1-2 p.m. Burial will be in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Luray United Methodist Church Building Fund.
