Paul Anthes, 89 of Conway, died Friday, February 19, 2010. Mr. Anthes was born June 2, 1920 in Cass City, Michigan to the late Walter and Susan (Race) Anthes.

He married Ludie Shinn of Magnolia on January 23, 1944. They have just celebrated 66 wonderful years together.

The Anthes', along with brother-in-law G. J. Shinn and his wife Sue of Magnolia, built, owned, and operated numerous motels in and around Arkansas, three located in Conway. Of all their properties, the Townhouse Motel and Bowens Restaurant were their pride and joy. This is where they raised two sons – Eddie, who resides in Conway with his wife Rhonda and David, who lives in Russellville with his wife Gail.

The Anthes' are the proud grandparents of Jason, Yanci, Carter, Michelle, Amy, Jon, Brandon, and Tyler. They also have two great grandchildren.

Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday at Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, and the funeral service will be conducted at 10 am Monday at Harlan Park Baptist Church on Dave Ward Drive. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park, with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Dewayne Tyus, Jeff Holland, Carter Walker, Jon Anthes, Mike Vaught, and Joe Howerton.

Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Day and the Noon Lions Club.

Memorials may be sent to the Harlan Park Baptist Church Building Fund.
