Olive "Babe" McEuen, 85, passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

Babe was born April 16, 1924 on the family ranch at Eagle Creek, Arizona. She was the third child and only girl born to Howard and Bessie Filleman. Being the baby, she acquired the nickname Babe. Babe loved the ranch life and has instilled that love to her daughters and grandchildren. She attended grade school at the one room school at Eagle Creek. When it came time for high school, she had to move to Clifton, where she graduated in 1941. While in high school she was active in volleyball and was a member of the band.

Babe was very talented. She could play many musical instruments as well as paint and draw. She was a gifted horsewoman and could ride and rope as well as any of the cowboys.

While at the Springerville Az. Fourth of July Rodeo, she met her future husband, Buddy McEuen. She really liked his calf roping horse, Blue Boy, and decided the cowboy riding him was something special. They were married December 28, 1946. After marriage the happy couple moved to Fort Thomas, AZ where they lived for the next five years. They were blessed with twin girls in 1950.

In 1955 the family moved to Safford, AZ. Babe was involved in the Emblem Club, Rebekahs, and the Arizona Cowbelles Assoc. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Her wit and humor will always be remembered by anyone who knew her.

Babe was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy, her parents, Howard and Bess Filleman, brother, Jodie Filleman and brother, Harold Filleman.

Surviving her are daughters: Darcee McEuen and Dawnee (Rob) Robinson; five grandchildren: Kacy (Chadelle), Garrett (Sara), Buddy, Whitney and Tanner Robinson; and three great-grandchildren: Jimmie, Grant and Channing Robinson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church of Safford. The family will receive friends at the Caldwell Funeral Chapel on Tuesday morning from 10 a.m. – 12 noon and later at the Church from 1p.m. – 2 p.m.
