Mrs. Toenjes was a retired bookkeeper at Diehl Florist. She was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Church; Mary and Martha Society; Ss. Peter and Paul Choir; and she was a volunteer at Monroe County Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Elsie, nee Toenjes, Kuehner; and her husband, Robert L. Toenjes.
Surviving are her sons, Allan (Mary Ann) Toenjes of Waterloo, Ill., and Bernard Toenjes of Columbia, Ill.; five grandchildren, Laura (Brian) Metzger, Kara (Jason) Metz, Krista Toenjes, Aaron Toenjes and Christopher Toenjes; three great-grandchildren, Trevor Metzger, Blake Metzger and Ellie Metzger; a sister, Ruth (Jack) Toal of Waterloo, Ill.; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorials may be made to Ss. Peter and Paul Library, Gibault Library, Gibault Band or to a charity of the donor's choice.
Visitation: Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2004, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 30. 2004, at Quernheim Funeral Home, Waterloo, Ill.
Funeral: Funeral Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, 2004, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Waterloo, Ill., with Father Ed Hustedde and Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating. Burial will be in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Waterloo, Ill.
