Funeral services for Mrs. Frankie Bennett Powell, 68, of Memphis, Tennessee were held Wednesday, November 24 at 10:30 a.m. from the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Memphis with interment in Memory Hill Gardens. Memphis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Powell, a native of Holmes County and the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bennett, died at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis on November 22 following a short illness.
She was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a retired nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Memphis.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Powell of Memphis, Tennessee and Thomas Powell of Byhalia; four sisters, Mrs. Mildred Kelly of Memphis, Tennessee, Mrs. Sarah Duncan of Shreveport, Louisiana, Mrs. Mattie Swinney and Mrs. Katherine Swinney, both of Lexington: three brothers, George Bennett and Robert Bennett, both of Santa Ana, California, and Thomas Bennett of Pea Ridge, Arkansas; one grandson, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Serving as active pallbearers were her nephews, Samuel Hearn, Jr., Mike Kelly, Tim Kelly, Auburtin Swinney, Tommy Mitchell, Bobby Swinney and Jimmy Dale Thomas.
