Survivors include a son, a daughter, a brother, a cousin and her family, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 stepgrandchildren, and 0 great-stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald A. Larson; her parents, Clara and Russell Mellon; and a brother, Leo Mellon.
Frances was born March 29, 1918, and grew up in Choteau. After graduating from high school, she attended Kinman Business School in Spokane, and shortly thereafter married the love of her life, Donald A. Larson, on Nov. 24, 1939. They lived in San Francisco for a short time while Don was a commissioned officer in the Army.
Upon Don's discharge from the service, they moved to Missoula, where her husband attended pharmacy school. When he graduated, they moved to Great Falls, where they owned and operated Mellon Drug and co-owned the Westside Super Drug for many years. After the sales of their drugstores, she worked at Public Drug as a clerk for 11 years.
When Frances retired, she dedicated her time to being a faithful volunteer for Red Cross and Columbus Hospital until her health would no longer permit it. She was an active member of the First Congregational UCC and a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She also was a dedicated supporter of the Humane Society.
Faith, family, friends and her love for animals were the center of Frances's life. She played such an important part in the lives of her children and grandchildren. They absolutely adored her and ultimately respected her for her tremendous strength, wisdom, guidance and her enduring faith. She was the center of their universe. Frances will be so deeply missed by her family and friends.
