Grover Doyle Carter, 85, of Jesup, GA, died Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at his residence after an extended illness. The Wayne Co., GA, native was a Baptist, an automotive paint & body serviceman for Walker Chevrolet for many years. He loved gardening, woodworking, playing his harmonica, being a father & a "Papa." He was a U. S. Army Veteran of World War II, receiving several Bronze Stars, predeceased by his wife: Margaret Edenfield Carter, a grandson: Richard Studstill, Jr. & granddaughter: Davida Thompson.

Survivors are 5 daughters & sons-in-law: Judy (Butch) Poppell of Guyton, GA, Debbie (Butch) Kessler of Savannah, GA, Wanda (Mickey) Thompson, Vickie (Richard) Studstill, Sonja Carter, all of Jesup, GA, 3 sons & daughters-in-law: Decker (Diane) Carter, Derell (Ann) Carter, both of Jesup, GA, Randy Carter of Savannah, GA, 1 sister: Geraldine Edenfield of Jesup, GA, 1 brother: Clifford Carter of Jesup, GA, 14 Grandchildren, several Great-grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 P. M. Friday, March 5, 2010, from the Rinehart & Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Vann Dempsey & Rev. Stan Todd officiating. Interment will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Ernie Harris, Jerome Carter, Ned Carter, Cole Kessler, Joey Carter, & Josh Thompson.

Visitation will be 1 to 2 P. M. Friday from the funeral home prior to services.
