Funeral Services for Billie Jo King, 74, of Lubbock, will be at 10 a.m. Friday Aug. 8, 2003 at Resthaven Mausoleum Chapel with Father James Bridges officiating. Burial will follow in the Lamesa Cemetery alongside her late husband, John A. King under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Lubbock. Our Lord called Billie Jo King to his side on Aug. 5, 2003. She was preceded in death by her mother, Myrtie Crowe and her father, Bill Martin. She was also preceded by three brothers, Richard, Horace, and Walter Martin; and a sister, Ruby Boswell. Billie married Sylvester Sulak, Jr. and three children were born from that union: Joe Sulak, Susan Sulak and Sylvia Puffer. She leaves behind a grandson, Andrew Sulak, and an adopted grandson, Matthew Burleson; four granddaughters, Chanda Young, Heather Reed, Holly Duckworth, and Carrie Sulak; her adopted daughter, Debbie Burleson; and two great-grandchildren, Landon Young, and Ashton Jo Young. She also leaves behind her dear friend of many years, Harley White. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Lubbock AARP, Seniors are Special, and the All Serenity AA group. She was also a long-standing member of the S.O.S. Club in Lubbock. Billie was a member of "Lost Chords". She was known as "Grandma" to most and as a good, strong, Christian woman to all. Her only thoughts were for the good of her friends and family. May she rest in peace.
