Dallas Seaman Among Lost in Navy Disaster
Echos of the tragedy that struck Saturday night in mid-Atlantic have reached far across the nation into a Dallas home.
Clayton E. Bryant, 18-year-old fireman apprentice, is among 176 crew members of the Minesweeper Hobson who are still listed as missing by the Navy.
His mother, Mrs. Bernice Russell of 735 Havenden Circle, was heartened Tuesday with news that sixty-one survivors have been rescued. Her son was not among them, but she's praying that he'll be found soon.
The seamen were plunged into the ocean when the 27,100 ton aircraft carrier Wasp cut the minesweeper in half in a collision Saturday.
