Alfred Max "Dutch" Trilling Jr., 73, of Karlsway Drive, died Thursday, February 25, 2010, in Columbus.
From 1957 to 1960, Mr. Trilling served with the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for some of his military career.
He was an engine tester at Cummins Engine Company, retiring in 2001 after 38 years of service, and was a member of Diesel Workers Union.
Mr. Trilling also was a farmer and a truck driver and enjoyed driving for a moving and storage company. An avid motorcycle rider, he was a member of The Whispering Eagles and a member of the Lutheran church in Germany. He enjoyed traveling.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, March 5, at Rocky Ford Free Methodist Church with the Rev. Brian Buterbaugh officiating.
Private inurnment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum with full military rites presented by Bartholomew County Veterans Color Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Rocky Ford Free Methodist Church, 3990 Rocky Ford Road, Columbus, IN 47203.
The family asks that people attending the service bring and share a written memory of Mr. Trilling to be left at the church.

Born in Lindenau, Germany, June 7, 1936, Mr. Trilling was the son of Alfred Bruno Trilling Sr. and Talyta Neuman Trilling. He married Joan Hinds Roberts November 27, 2004.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Connie Trilling of Columbus, Carolyn (Brian) Friedman and Carin (Jeff) Alexander, both of Indianapolis; stepchildren, Jeffrey (Kim) Roberts and Stephen (Letha) Roberts, both of Nashville, and Kimberly Roberts of Fayetteville, AR; grandchildren, Nick, Amy and Adam Friedman, Grant Alexander and Stephanie Roberts; a great-grandson, Preston McNealy; siblings, Gertrud (Erich) Wehner of Indianapolis, Herta Weber of St. Louis, MO, Otto (Sharon) Trilling of Elizabethtown and Lore Picklesimer of Bargersville; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws.
