Susannah, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Hileman, was born in Wayne County, Ohio. She married Henry Harrison Drown on November 21, 1858 in Seneca County, Ohio. Their son Melville was born the following year. On the 1860 census, Susannah and Melville were enumerated in her father's household in Seneca County, Ohio. In 1864, she married Benjamin Franklin Bowman with whom she had a daughter, Alma. On the 1870 census, Susannah and her children were enumerated in her father's household in Andrew County, Missouri. Later that year, she married Nelson Crockett, a Civil War veteran. He died in 1892.
Her son Melville became a doctor and was practicing medicine in Lenora. His wife died in 1894 and it appears his mother came to live with him, possibly to care for his two sons. Doctor Drown died in 1899.
On August 6, 1913, Susannah became a resident at the Mother Bickerdyke Home at Ellsworth, Kansas. It was at that location that she died just 12 days later. Her body was shipped to Lenora for burial in the East cemetery with her son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Reverend Flowers at the Methodist Church.
She was survived by her daughter, Alma Williams, of Portland, Oregon; and three brothers, J. S. Hileman of Edna, Kansas; M. D. Hileman of Baxter Springs, Kansas; and D. O. Hileman of Oswego, Kansas.
