Fort Wayne News Sentinel - April 7, 1920 - EX POLICE OFFICER DIES - Elmer M. Young Passed Away at Richmond Last Night

Elmer M. Young, for about ten years a member of the Fort Wayne police force and a member of the Fraternal Order of Police died in a hospital at Richmond yesterday afternoon.

Mr. Young was born Sept. 19, 1878 and had spent the greater part of his life in this city. On Dec. 11, 1906, he was assigned to the Fort Wayne police force and served until Feb. 8, 1911, at which time he resigned. He was reinstated Jan {?} 1914, and was dismissed from the service on Aug. 15, 1919, for total disability. During his service with the police department he served as patrolman, detective and motorcycle man.

Prior to his connection with the police department the deceased was in the employ of the Mc? Plate and Lake Frio & Western railroad and was a member of the B[?] of R. T. No. 168 [?].

Mr. Young is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. John P. Young, 1532 North Harrison street, the former a local deputy sheriff, two children, Mary C. and Albert E., both of this city, and one brother Ford Young also of this city.

The body arrived in this city this afternoon and was taken to the home of the parents where funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. Arthur J. Folsom officiating. Burial will be in Lindenwood.
