Henry Adrian was born to Christopher and Caroline Adrian on 17 Apr 1841 in Mecklenburg-Strelitz, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Heinrich was the second of nine siblings. He became a child of the Triune God through the sacrament of baptism at the Lutheran church in his home town in Mecklenburg. With his parents and siblings he immigrated at the age of 14 to America where his parents would make their home in the Wolcottsville, Niagara County, New York area.
With the out-set of the American Civil War and at the age of 20, he enlisted for military service at Lockport, Niagara, New York and served 10 September 10, 1861–March 31, 1862 in Company G, 7th Calvary Regiment New York.
Upon returning from military service, he once again took up farming with his father. At some time between 1863–1864 Henry moved from Niagara County, New York, to Calhoun County, Michigan, where he purchased a farm in the Harmonia area of Calhoun County.
About 1864 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary Crapoff. To this union would be born nine children: a daughter, Carrie, and eight sons: William, Frank, John, Ira, Edward, Berke, and Harry.
The June 8th, 1870, U.S. Census records show the family living in Bedford Township, Calhoun County, Michigan. Henry age is 29 Years, 1 Months, 22 Days, married, father of three children and his occupation is listed as farm laborer.
His sudden death came on March 9th, 1893 in Harmonia, Calhoun County, Michigan, at the age of 51 Years, 10 Months, 20 Days. His funeral was conducted on March 11th 1893 from the Harmonia church of which he was a devoted member, by the Rev. H. H. Ford, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church after which he mortal remains were interred burial in the Harmonia Cemetery.

A SUDDEN SUMMONS: Henry Adrian, of Harmonia, Dropped Dead While Chopping Wood.
Henry Adrian, a highly respected farmer residing in Harmonia, six miles west of the city, dropped dead while chopping wood in his woods yesterday afternoon about 3:30 o'clock. He lived on the S. P. Beecher farm and has been known in this city of over six years.
Mr Adrian has been suffering from heart trouble, which alone is the cause of his sudden demise. He arose yesterday morning in apparently good health, ate heartily at breakfast and dinner, and about 2 o'clock he went to his work feeling in the best of spirits. At the time of his death he complained of feeling bad and stopped his work. John, his son, came to him and was helping him to the wagon, when he died in his arms without a struggle.
Dr. C. C. Landon was called but it was not thought advisable to empanel a (coroner's) jury under the circumstances. Deceased was about 50 years of age and leaves a wife and eight children, one girl and seven boys. The daughter, Miss Carrie Adrian, resides in this city.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock from the Harmonia church of which he was a devoted member. Rev. H. H. Ford, pastor of the M(Methodist) E(Episcopal) church of Augusta will officiate and the remains will be interred in the Harmonia cemetery.
