Blaine S. Clapper, 72, of 124 Clapper's Lane, Duncansville, died early Friday morning, May 5, 1995, at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home, following an extended illness.
He was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Carson Valley, the son of the late James L. and Thelma M. (Brubaker) Clapper. He married Betty M. Blough on Jan. 25, 1943.
He was a member of the Carson Valley Church of the Brethren and was a member of the church bowling league.
He retired as a produce selector from the A&P Warehouse in 1985 after 37 years of service.
Mr. Clapper served as a corporal with Battery A 332nd Field Artillery Battalion with the Army during World War II.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Surviving are his wife; two daughters: Betty K Dewald of Duncansville RD, and Elaine F. Felton of Schellsburg; a son Blaine Eric of State College; three sisters: Thelma L. Jones and Lista D. Smith, both of Carson Valley and Patti J. Baumgarten of Wales Center, NY; three brothers: James L. of Broomfield, CO, Paul D. of Carson Valley, and Clair M. of Martinsburg; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by two sons; Arthur and William, and a daughter, Wanda. Also preceded by two brothers Gean and Boyd, and a son-in-law, Allan Dewald.
Friends received at Sorge Funeral Home Monday 2-4 and 7-9 Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at Carson Valley Church of the Brethren. Services with Pastor Ludwick and Pastor Roy C. Myers. Interment at Carson Valley Cemetery.
