Olive lived on a farm with her husband and children. When he died the family moved to town and the older children worked in a shoe factory to provide funds for the family. Olive moved to northern California with her youngest child, Hugh. They lived on several small ranchettes. She kept some animals and there is a story of her getting a chunk of leg bit when she didn't get out of a sow's pen fast enough. She slept with a box of candy and baseball bat. She loved her sweets. In later age she developed diabetes mellitus. She lived with a man Bass and nursed him until he died. She moved to the San Diego area to be near more of her children who had moved to California. She lived in a trailer park in a tiny trailor where her friends and family came and were entertained by Olive or 'Grandee' as the family called her. She had six children, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren at her death.
