Mr. W. C. Ayers Dead Mr. William C. Ayers departed this life at his home in this town' on, Monday night last at about 8:00 o'clock, after an illness of several days, the cause of- death being complication arising after an attack of La Grippe. Mr. Ayers was one of our oldest and most prominent business men, he being at the timeoLis death, 62 years of age, and was the oldest merchant in the c ty. He was a sir cere christian gentleman, having joined the M. 1 . church when a young man, he took Christ for his guide, taking his religion into his businass and living the consistent christian life every day until the finial dissolution.Mr. Ayers was twice married, first to Mrs. Nannie Whitehurst of this town, who died without issue, then to Miss Fannie Dixon of Washington, the latter, with four daughters surviving him, and to these The Beacon extends heartfelt sympathy in this their hour of deepest bereavement. The remains were laid to rest in the M. E. Church- yard on Wednesday morning at 10:00 c'clock, Rev. R. H. Broom, pastor of Washington M. E. Church conducting the Ceremonies. Truly a good man has gone to his just reward.
