Charles Davis Bean, 81, died at 3:25 p.m. Saturday in Veterans Hospital. A resident of Mesa County since 1906, Mr. Bean lived on the Kannah Creek place his family homesteaded for most of his life. His wife, Zella Haynes Bean, died Oct. 5. The Beans were married at Mesa in November 1922. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene for 50 years, and active until recently. Born April 24, 1892, at Colby, Kan., Mr. Bean travelled with his family by covered wagon to Wray, Colo., in 1897. He served with the Army during World War I and was in the battle of the Argonne. He was a charter member of the Surface Creek Creamery organization. A daughter, Mrs. Donald Redfield of Grand Junction, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.
