TOLONO - Percy L. Ostrom, 89, Tolono, passed away at 2:42 p.m. Monday, March 1, 2010, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
Graveside service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, March 5, in Center Prairie Cemetery, Williamsfield, with the Rev. Randy Douglass officiating. Military rites will be accorded. Freese Funeral Home, 407 N. Bourne, Tolono, is assisting with arrangements.
Mr. Ostrom was born Aug. 23, 1920, in Williamsfield, a son to Walter and Eva Seward Ostrom. He married Margaret Steingreaber on Sept. 8, 1942, and she survives. Percy was proud to have been married for 67 years.
Also surviving are a daughter, Patricia A. Ostrom-Duval of Milwaukee, Ore.; a grandson, Andrew Duval; and a brother; Harold Ostrom of Peoria. He was preceded in death by a sister.
Percy graduated from Galesburg High School; he then served in the United States Navy form 1942 to 1945, serving in the South Pacific. He attended Bradley University while employed at the Department of Agriculture. He also farmed in the Henry County area for 10 years.
He was a member of Victoria Legion, Champaign County Farm Bureau and Soil Conservation Retirees.
He enjoyed genealogy and photography.
