OBITUARY: The Kossuth County Advance carried the following obituary on L. E. Strom under this column headline:
L. E. STROM DIES AFTER OPERATION FOR GALL STONES
Louis Eric Strom, 68, died at the Kossuth County Hospital last Thursday following an emergency operation for gallstones, with which he had been suffering since February 24. Funeral service were held at the Laird & Helmer chapel Saturday, The Rev. C. E. Olsen officiating and burial was made in Riverview.
Mr. Strom was born September 22, 1862, at Österåker, Sweden. He came to America and Algona in 1888 with an aunt and a brother. He was married to Engeborg Marie Omholt at Algona October 30, 1893, and five children were born: Erick Otto, who died February 18, 1907; Leo, of Cherokee; Mrs. M. P. Christiansen, Algona; Mrs. G. A. Knudsen, Chicago, and Mrs. T. H. Holmes, Jr., Algona.
Mrs. Strom died November 26, 1910, and Mr. Strom was again married at Fort Dodge, July 30, 1917, to Julie Volluck [Votlucka] of Pocahontas, who survives.
Four years ago, Mr. Strom retired as stone mason, which he had followed all his life. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen and of The A.O.U.W..
Besides the widow and four children, Mr. Strom is survived by the following brothers and sisters: John Strom, Laramie, Wyo.; August Strom, Algona; Gust Strom, Elmore; and three grandchildren.
Mr. Strom joined the First Lutheran church January 11, 1903. Out of town relatives at the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. Gus Strom, Elmore; John Strom, Mason City; Mr. and Mrs. Jay Graham, Burt; Emmet Grant, Cumberland, Wis.; and David Anderson, Cumberland, Wis.
