"Anna" was born near the Attala Co./Winston Co., Ms. line, in 1859. At the time of her birth, she had one older brother, David Ervin Laney.
After she was born, a sister was born, Mary Elizabeth "Molly" Laney. In 1861 her father, Asa Minor Laney joined a group that formed the Winston Rifles, out of Winston Co., Ms. and began fighting for the Confederacy during the Civil War. He was able to come home on furlough one time in late 1863 while camped at Tupelo, Ms. Nine months later in July of 1864, the 4th and last child, a son, named for his father, Asa Minor Laney, Jr. was born. He never got to see his namesake. Asa Minor, Sr. was killed in the infamous battle of Franklin, Tn. on Nov. 30, 1864.
"Anna" married John Friar Massey around 1876 and was mother to several children.
