Jack A Brewer was a hard working man of very few words, but he was quick witted, with a wide toothless grin and an impish laugh. He loved his family and something that brought him joy was giving them nicknames. His wife Nancy was ”Punkinpuss”, his daughter, Jackie was “Monkey Sue”, his son-in-law, Kevin, was “Sonny Boy” and his granddaughter, Danette, was “Sissy Girl”. Jack was married to Nancy for 47 years. They loved a lot and fought a lot, but could never seem to do without each other for very long. He missed her terribly after her passing in 2004, but now they will never be apart again.
Jack enjoyed collecting guns, clocks and pocket watches. He was fascinated by trains and he loved western movies, especially John Wayne movies. He adored his little dog, Lil Girl (or Baby) that his granddaughter picked out for him in 2007 & he took her everywhere he went. He and Lil Girl were inseparable until his death & she followed him in February of 2019.
Jack was briefly in the Navy, when a back injury ended his stint as a Seabee and he was honorably discharged. He was mechanically inclined & used his knowledge of machinery for most of his adult life. He was a foreman for Sausland’s Envelope Factory for 17 years, an auto mechanic at Paul Roark’s Used Car dealership, and an auto mechanic for his brother, Lloyd at Honey Creek Skelly. He was a shift foreman for the Grove Egg Co and a truck driver for Wes Stark Trucking, hauling eggs for the Grove Egg Co. Jack was a maintenance foreman for Simmons Foods Feed Mill in Anderson, MO., until he was semi retired in 2001, then he was employed by his son-in-law, Kevin Kirby at Grand Lake Pawn until his full retirement in 2016.
Jack was my beloved Daddy. Kevin, Danette & I speak of him frequently and quote some of his most memorable, clever quips. We will always miss him so much, but we rest, knowing he’s at home with the Lord. We know we’ll have a glad reunion one day.
