Jerry Max Anderson was born July 6, 1934, in Soldiers Spring to Pearl (Gardner) Anderson and Tillman Anderson. Jerry passed away Monday, July 24, 2007, at his home in Blair at the age of 73.

He grew up in Kiowa and Jackson counties, graduating from Blair High School in 1953. He served in the U.S. Army from June 1954 until May 1956 and was stationed with the Allied Army Occupation of Germany.

Jerry married Janice Warren in Sayre on April 7, 1960.

He began his career with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation in 1956, retiring as Jackson County maintenance foreman after 35 years of service.

Accepting Jesus at the age of 16, he joined the Blair First Baptist Church, serving as a teacher and valued member. He was a member of the Blair Masonic Lodge and was very enthusiastic about his hobbies of motorcycling, woodworking and fishing. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and took great pride in his yard.

Preceding him in death were his parents; paternal grandparents, George P. and Mary Ellen (Wisdom) Anderson and maternal grandparents, Charles C. and Belle (Winters) Gardner, pioneers of the Oklahoma Territory.

Survivors include his wife Janice of the home; his sons, Jerry Max Anderson Jr. and wife Suzie of Blair, and Jeff Anderson and wife Marissa of Castle Rock, Colo.; his sisters, Bonita Ray and Bonnie Shelton and husband Dale, all of Altus; a brother, Glen Anderson and wife Bobbie Ann of Elk City; his grandchildren, Josh Anderson and wife Teri of Blair, Jennifer Hodas and husband Matt of Minot, S.D., Meredith, Jerod and Jeremy Anderson of Castle Rock, Colo.; his great-grandchildren, Maureen Drotos and Wyatt Tripp of Blair, and Micah and Garrett Hodas of Minot.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 27 at the Blair First Baptist Church officiated by pastor Randy Mitchell. Burial will be at Blair Cemetery under the direction of People's Co-operative Funeral Home.

Family visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at People's Co-operative Funeral Home in Lone Wolf.
