Mrs. DeRossette was born in Vicksburg to the late Frank C. and Lena Signa Canizaro.
After graduating from St. Francis Xavier Academy, she entered into training as a medical technician. Her first post was at the Vicksburg Hospital and, during World War II, in Biloxi.
A gifted soprano, Mrs. DeRossette also supported the troops by singing in several USO clubs on the Coast. She performed live on the radio, in community programs and in church choirs.
After the war, she returned to Vicksburg and began a long association with Dr. Edley Jones Sr. in his EENT practice through 1952, resuming work in 1972. In the interim, she married the late Wallace C. DeRossette Jr., and they raised a family while stationed at various military posts in the U.S. and Europe.
Mrs. DeRossette was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mattie Canizaro; and her brother, James Canizaro, both of Vicksburg.
Mrs. DeRossette is survived by a sister, Angela Canizaro of Vicksburg; three daughters, Angela Thomson (husband Ralph) of Petal, Donna Hopkins and Janet Jackson; a stepdaughter, Rebecca Brasfeild (husband Charles), all of Vicksburg; and seven sons, Matthew DeRossette (wife Sally), Brian DeRossette (wife Betty), Tim DeRossette (wife Lucy), Patrick DeRossette and Frank DeRossette, all of Vicksburg, James DeRossette (wife Theresa) of Hattiesburg and Wallace DeRossette III (wife Denise) of Clinton; 31 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Catholic Church with the Rev. P.J. Curley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery....
