Mary Belle Davis, 87, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 in a local hospital. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 6th at Baker Heights Church of Christ in Abilene with Steve Smith officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Merkel, directed by Starbuck Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Mary Belle was born January 10, 1926 in Abilene to Roy James and Myrtle (Counts) Duty. She graduated from Manual Arts High School in Los Angeles, CA and attended Pepperdine University and Abilene Christian College. She married William L. "Dub" Davis January 5, 1947 in Abilene. He preceded her in death July 24, 1995. Mary Belle was a member of Baker Heights Church of Christ. She was a homemaker but also helped on the farm, feeding cows and driving a tractor. She loved to garden and loved her poodles.
Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Davis and wife Jean of Merkel, Ray Davis and wife Brenda of Weatherford; daughter-in-law, Margaret Davis of Abilene; five grandchildren, Wendy Reed and husband Dr. Chad of Marshall, Lesley Hodges and husband Corey of Weatherford, Jennifer Davis of Merkel, Shawn Davis of Abilene and Jason Davis and wife Shannon of Winnipeg, Canada; and five great grandchildren, Connor, Caden and Cameron Reed and Hunter and Hudson Hodges.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Nick Davis; and brother, Leroy Duty.
