Robert L. Calhoun, 70, of 223 E. Madison Ave., died at 11:50 a.m. Saturday in Jameson Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Born March 7, 1905 in Stoneybottom, W.Va., he was the son of the late Eli Wilson Calhoun and Martha Frances Smith Calhoun. He was married Sept. 1, 1955, to the former Delsie Groves, who survives. He was previously married to the former Evelyn Proper who died in May 1940.
Mr. Calhoun, a member of the Mahoning United Methodist Church, retired as a conductor for the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad. He belonged to St. Marguerite Society and Eagles Lodge 550 in Willard, Ohio.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Cyrus W. Calhoun of Mento, Ohio, Robert N. Calhoun of RD 4, and Ronald L. Calhoun Simmers of Las Vegas, Nev.; one sister, Mrs. Eva Horrisberger of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; one brother, Drawdy L. Calhoun of Painesville, Ohio, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today at the Kildoo Funeral Home, 101 W. Madison Ave., Mahoningtown, where services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday by the Rev. Ormel Shindledecker, a retired Methodist minister. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery.
