Retired U.S. Marine Corps Col. Walter Asmuth Jr., husband of the late Janice Walsh Asmuth and beloved father of Walter Asmuth III, Michele Asmuth, Peter Asmuth and Susan Fowley, died Feb. 27, 1998.
He is also survived by eight grandchildren and four sisters.
Friends will be received from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday in Knollwood, 6200 Oregon Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday at The Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6001 Western Ave., N.W., Washington, D.C. Interment will be at 3 p.m. in Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Charles Church, 545 Randolph Ave., Cape Charles, Va. 23310. Pumphrey's Bethesda Chevy Chase Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
