Obit - November 11, 1931 - Mrs. Mary Jane Greek

Mary Jane Sierer, daughter of George and Caroline Sierer was born in Cumberland County, Pa., on May 4, 1849 and departed this life at her home in Fremount, Ind. on Monday November 2, 1931 at 2:45 o ' clock p.m. Her age being 82 years, 5 months, and 28 daays. She came wither her parents from Pennsylvania while quite young and they located in this community where she grew to young womanhood.

On December 19, 1880, she was united in marriage with Jonas Greek and to this union were born four children. Floy, Joseph Wesley, George Jonas, and Elroy. Floy Greek McNall and baby grand-daughter Mildred Floy passed to the great Beyond on April 6, 1901.

Word of praise or commendation of Mrs. Greek as a wife, mother, or friend to those who knew her, are entirely unnecessary. Her devotion to her husband and children could scarcely be surpassed, yet with all she always found time to give help or sympathy to those arounnd her who were sick or in trouble.

She was indeed a wonderful mother, a faithful wife, and a kind friend.

About 31 years ago she united with the Evangellical church although for a number of years she has been unable to attend on account of ill health. Yet she wore her affliction and pain with wonderful patience, ever remaining true to her Christian faith. Everything was done that loving hands and medical aid could do, but to no avail. She was the last of the family of 13 children whom with the parents have preceded her to the Spirit world. There remains to mourn her going: The bereaved husband, three sons, six grandchildren, one great grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.

Home is not home, mother is not there, Dark is her room, empty her chair, Angels have taken her out of our care. Lifted her over life's golden stair. Sleep, mother, sleep, with your hands on your breast. Poor weary hands, they have needed a rest. well have we loved you but God loved you best. Dear heart: He is giving you well deserved rest.

Funeral Services were held on Thursday November 5. at the late home of the deceased in Fremont; interment in Fremont Cemetery.

We wish to express our heartfelt thanks to the friends and neighbors for their kindness during the sickness and death of our wife and mother.

Mr. Jonas Greek and family.
