James Harrell Sweeney, age 71, of Hermitage, AR, died Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Bradley County Medical Center in Warren, AR. He was born March 14, 1938 in Hermitage, AR, a son of the late Claude Leotis Sweeney and Georgia Langston Sweeney. He retired as a construction worker. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was a veteran. He was a of the member Antioch Baptist Church.

Also, preceding him in death were 2 brothers- Jack Sweeney and Sidney Sweeney; 2 sisters- Nell Hardin and Verna Sweeney.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Richards Sweeney, whom he married March 9, 2007; 1 son- James Wacie Sweeney and wife, Jaime of Claude, TX; 2 daughters- Karen Wynn and spouse, Geoff of Norman, OK and Kelly Sweeney of Texarkana, AR; 2 step daughters- Lisa Robinson of Warren, AR and Gina Craig and spouse, Gary of Simpsonville, SC; 1 brother- Claude Sweeney, Jr. of Hermitage, AR; 3 sisters- Emily Booker, Irma Rotton, both of Hermitage, AR, Jo Noland of Memphis, TN; 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and 5 step grandchildren.

Funeral service was 10 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2010 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Wayman Mann officiating. Music provided by Nina Harrod, Steve Wiggins, and Rita Wiggins. Burial was in Gravelridge Cemetery by Frazer's Funeral Home.

Active pallbearers were John T. Ferguson, Sam Smith, Mike Wilkerson, Marty Wilkerson, Travis Ferguson, Andy Anders, Bobby Thurman, and Scott Helms II. Honorary pallbearers were Kerry Stanley, Fletcher Calvert, Kenny Wayne Harcrow, Jim Gardner, Jearl Smith, and Eddie Smith.
