Robert L. "Bob" Sanderson, 86, of DeKalb, Ill. passed away Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at the DeKalb Area Retirement Center in DeKalb. He was born April 3, 1923, in Lee, the son of Lawrence and Nora (Peterson) Sanderson.
Bob was a graduate of Kaneville Community High School Class of 1940. He was a farmer and was formerly employed by Strausberger & Cross Excavating Company, Wurlitzer Piano Company, DeKalb School District, and was a DeKalb Area Realtor. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in DeKalb, the DeKalb County Farm Bureau, and the former DeKalb Eagles Club. Bob was a diehard Cubs Fan.
He is survived by his five nephews, James Strausberger of DeKalb, Robert (Karin ) Strausberger of DeKalb, Dale (Mona) Strausberger of Hinckley, Dave (Lee Ann) Sanderson of Sycamore and Bradley (Lisa) Sanderson of Sycamore; four nieces, Dianne Leifheit of DeKalb, Nancy (John) Didier of Prairie View, Cheryl Strausberger of DeKalb and Jeannie (Harry) Anderson of Sycamore; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Strausberger and Lois Johnson; one brother, James Sanderson; great-niece, Holly Anderson; and great-nephew, Christopher Sanderson.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 4, at the Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, with the Rev. Todd Peterson of Trinity Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will follow services at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday at the Anderson Funeral Home.
