BEDFORD Bonnie Evelyn Leming Bedford went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the age of 88. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that she had touched in some way throughout her life. Mrs. Bedford was born in Rome, Georgia and lived for 45 years in St. Bernard Parish. She lived with her daughter in Destrehan since 2005. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Chalmette and steadfastly served her Lord and Savior. Throughout the years she served in many capacities at the church and will be remembered especially by students of her Sunday School classes, the team that prepared the Wednesday night dinners, and the brides that were assisted in her role as Wedding Coordinator. She was instrumental in the foundation of the interdenominational outreach program, Helping Hands. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Jess Willard Bedford; her sons Gary Bedford and Danny Bedford; and her parents Ada Johnson Leming and Clyde Ray Leming. She is survived and fondly remembered by her son Willard Eugene Bedford and his wife Sally; daughter Paula Bedford Skaggs and her husband Truman "Tommy"; daughter-in-law Pat Fraiser Bedford; six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grand daughter, along with numerous other relations and dear friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend an evening visitation to be held at ST. BERNARD MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Monday, March 1st from 6:00PM - 9:00PM and again on Tuesday morning from 9:00AM - 10:30AM. A funeral service will be celebrated in her memory at First Baptist Church of Chalmette, 305 E. St. Bernard Hwy., Chalmette, LA on Tuesday morning beginning at 11:00AM.
