Thomas Church, son of Colonel Benjamin Church, was born in Duxbury, Plymouth Colony, in 1673/4.

He was a carpenter and served as a selectman in Little Compton for 25 years. He is the author of "The Entertaining History of King Philip's War, Which Began in the Month of June, 1675. As Also of Expeditions More Lately Made Against the Common Enemy, and Indian Rebels, in the Eastern Parts of New England" that was dictated to him by his father, Colonel Benjamin Church.

Sadly, five of Thomas Church's sons - four named Thomas and one named Benjamin - died in infancy and are buried in small table graves next to their parents. The fifth son named Thomas lived to maturity.
