James was the son of Francis Millard and Fanny E (Nash) Terry. He married Bette Sue Allred in 1950 and they had two children: Francis Nelson and Sue Lee.

MOUNT AIRY - Mr. James Nash Terry, 82, of 172 Marshall Street, Mount Airy, passed away Thursday, Feb. 25, 2010, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Mr. Terry was born June 19, 1927, in Surry County, son of the late Francis Millard and Fannie Nash Terry. He served our country in the United States Navy during World War II and was a member of the Granite Masonic Lodge #322 AF and AM for 54 years. James retired as a funeral director from Moody Funeral Services after 25 years of service and was a member of Central United Methodist Church. He is survived by a daughter, Susan Lee Terry of Alpharetta, Ga.; a grandson and his wife, James Dylan and Deborah Beckham of Duluth, Ga.; a great-grandson, Jordan Quinn Beckham of Duluth, Ga.; and a nephew, Richard Terry of Conyers, Ga. In addition to his parents, Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his wife, Bette Sue Allred Terry; and a brother, Francis Millard Terry, Jr. The funeral service will be held Sunday, Feb. 28, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Todd E. Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 1 to 2 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
