Olive Lucille Douglas Middleton, 88, a resident of Shenandoah, passed this life peacefully at Rockingham Memorial Hospital on Dec. 24, 2007.
Olive was born on Dec. 28, 1918, in Shenandoah, and was the daughter of the late James L. Douglas and Mary Heatwole Douglas Emerson.
She lived most of her life in Maryland, Pennsylvania and Luray before moving to Shenandoah several years ago to the Verbena Subdivision.
On June 6, 1946, she was united in marriage to William H.M. Middleton, who survives.
She is also survived by a daughter, Deborah Lynn Benisch and her husband, Thomas, of Eastern Maryland; a brother, Elwood Douglas of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and a sister, Joyce Douglas McAndrews of Shenandoah. Also, a number of nieces and nephews, including, Ronnie Douglas, Stacey Douglas and the Rev. Gordon Douglas; numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends she met at the Church of the Valley, which she occasionally attended.
Olive was a faithful wife, loving mother, and sister to her siblings. She excelled as a homemaker most of her life. She will be greatly and dearly missed.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, at the Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Pastor Alford Comer officiating. Burial will follow at Leake's Chapel Cemetery.
